Clemson expects to add LSU transfer

According to TCI sources, the Clemson baseball program is expected to pick up a transfer from Grayson Byrd, who spent his freshman year at LSU.

The son of former MLB pitcher Paul Byrd, he was selected by the Braves in the 39th round of the MLB draft after his senior year at King’s Ridge High School in Milton, Ga.

As a freshman at LSU, Byrd hit .212 (7-for-33) with nine RBI in 24 games (five starts) as the backup to Alex Bregman, the No. 2 overall pick earlier this summer in the MLB Draft.

Byrd (6-3, 180) is expected to enroll at Clemson in January.
