CLEMSON – CJ Spiller has given senior running back Travis Etienne a new nickname: Heat Lightning, because Etienne is a combination of Spiller and former backfield mate James Davis. Those two were Clemson’s Thunder and Lightning.
The dictionary says heat lightning is “a flash or flashes of light seen near the horizon, especially on warm evenings, believed to be the reflection of distant lightning on high clouds.” In other words, heat lightning occurs when you see the flashes of light but are too far away to hear the thunder.
Spiller spoke to the media at Sharone Wright’s golf benefit at the Walker Course Monday, and was asked about Etienne.
