Entering the spring, most Ole Miss fans assumed Chad Kelly would showcase the talent that has Hugh Freeze willing to gamble on despite his checkered past at Clemson and upstate New York.
Neither player separated themselves in the spring game with their stats: Kelly (9-19, 104-yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) and Ryan Buchanan (5-16, 49-yards, 1 INT).
Exiting the spring, Freeze gave the early lead in the Rebels' quarterback competition to sophomore Buchanan, citing his knowledge of the offense.
Expect Kelly to close the gap, as he has no intentions of taking the summer away from football.
