South Carolina’s current recruiting class took a hit on Sunday.
Four-star in-state TE Jamel Howse (Newberry) announced his decommitment from the Gamecocks on Sunday, one day after a 26-7 home loss to Oklahoma that dropped Shane Beamer’s team to 3-4 on the season and 1-4 in SEC play.
The 6-foot-4, 238-pound tight end had been committed to South Carolina for more than a year, announcing a verbal pledge last October. Howse also holds offers from Louisville, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati and UCF. He was one of two tight ends committed to the Gamecocks in the class.
