A former Clemson assistant has lost his job.
Florida has fired head coach Billy Napier in the midst of his fourth season with the program. The Gators needed a late interception to beat Mississippi State 23-21 at home on Saturday.
While the win moved Florida to 2-2 in SEC play, the Gators are just 3-4 overall, including a loss to South Florida. Napier is just 21-23 since taking over the program.
Napier was an assistant at Clemson from 2006-2010, serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, before Dabo Swinney decided to move on and bring in Chad Morris ahead of the 2011 campaign.
