Nation's Top 2017 QB Recruit Flips To Clemson

The top quarterback from the class of 2017 has committed to the Clemson Tigers. Hunter Johnson is a five-star recruit who was committed to the Tennessee Volunteers, but he'll flipped to Clemson Monday night.

Johnson is the No. 11 overall recruit according to 247Sports. Johnson told 247Sports that he's now committed to Clemson. Johnson had originally committed to the Vols in August. Johnson said it was not an decision to decommit from Tennessee.

"It was definitely tough," Johnson told 247Sports. "I built great relationships there. I respect the heck out of the coaching staff at Tennessee and I felt like the decision for me to go to Clemson was the right one and I'm confident about it. The fanbase at Tennessee is really special and the coaches there are great coaches and I'm confident they're going in the right direction too."

Johnson visited Clemson Dec. 11th.

"Myself and my family both just felt like it was the right spot for me," Johnson said. "I felt like I had a connection there when I went there. It wasn't something I was seeking out. I felt confident with my earlier decision of Tennessee at the time, but once I got there it felt right to me."

Johnson is the third recruit in the class of 2017 for the Tigers.
