A series of roster moves today:
The Reds announced on Monday that they have placed on the 10-day disabled list veteran pitcher Bronson Arroyo and shortstop Zack Cozart, summoning prospects Jesse Winker and Ariel Hernandez to Cincinnati in their stead.
Arroyo’s trip to the DL is due to shoulder troubles, while Cozart will rest a strained right quad.
My guess is that this trip to the disabled list will be the final one of Arroyo’s career. More on that in the coming days.
The Cozart news is discouraging, in light of the fact that (a) he’s struggled with injury problems the last couple of years and (b) it was just announced today that Cozart continues to lead National League shortstops in All-Star voting.
