'What he gave the game was his 100%': Former Red Bill Plummer remembers Joe Morgan

Former Cincinnati Reds catcher and Redding native Bill Plummer was in Major League Baseball for 53 years as a player and coach.

He walked among the titans of baseball if there was ever such a thing.

'Plum' as he's known, shared the dugout with the hit king Pete Rose, was the backup catcher to Johnny Bench, hit batting practice with Tony Perez and was managed by the legendary Sparky Anderson.

He also has fond memories of Joe Morgan, who died this week.

Now 73 years old, Plummer has seen many great talents and is credited with helping to develop the careers of 150 future major leaguers.
