Wade Miley has injured groin, Anthony DeSclafani to start for Reds Saturday

Wade Miley was hit hard in his Cincinnati Reds debut, allowing 5 ER in just 1.2 IP in the series opener against the Chicago Cubs. A quick check of his FanGraphs page reveals he averaged just 88.6 mph on his fastball, and while velocity has never been his calling card, that’s down significantly from the 90.5 mph he averaged just last year.

Perhaps there was a reason behind that. As The Athletic’s C. Trent Rosecrans relayed this afternoon, Miley is dealing with a groin injury, and won’t make his scheduled start on Saturday.
