Unwritten rules violation? Reds' Trevor Bauer, Sonny Gray applaud Fernando Tatis Jr.

It was the unwritten rules debate heard around the world. San Diego Padres phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a grand slam on a 3-0 count with a seven-run lead in the eighth inning Monday in an eventual 14-4 win against the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers took exception to it. Manager Chris Woodward said he didn't like it in his post-game press conference. Rookie pitcher Ian Gibaut, who entered the game immediately after the grand slam, threw the next pitch behind Manny Machado.

Gibaut was suspended for three games, which he is appealing, and Woodward was suspended for one game.
