It looks like Tyler Stephenson will be the Cincinnati Reds’ emergency catcher. He’s on the 40-man roster. He’ll be on the taxi squad when the season begins.
If anything happens to Tucker Barnhart or Curt Casali, Stephenson would likely get the call.
“Obviously, just waiting for that call,” Stephenson said. “It’s going to be a very unique season, to say the least, as everyone kind of expects, but obviously, I’ll just continue to work hard and wait for that call, hopefully.”
Stephenson, 23, was the Reds’ No. 1 pick in 2015, the 11th overall. He had his best season last year, hitting .
