Right-hander Tyler Mahle, on the injured list with a left hamstring strain, is close to returning. He knows he won't likely be returning to his spot in the rotation.
Mahle, 24, has only made one appearance out the bullpen since 2013 — the year he was drafted.
"We've definitely talked about that," he said. "I've talked about it with multiple people if they wanted me to do that. I wouldn't care as long as I'm here. I'm grateful that I'm here – whether I'm in the bullpen or if I'm starting.
