Trade talks in limbo, Alec Mills in the house for Cincinnati Reds beleaguered rotation

BALTIMORE — The Cincinnati Reds won’t need to dig deep to find a fifth starter again until Tuesday in Washington.

But don’t count on general manager Nick Krall landing one in a trade by then despite talks with “every team” in baseball in recent weeks.

And forget about Hunter Greene returning from that hip-back-soreness injury anytime soon, much less by Tuesday. He’s headed to Arizona to start a core program, followed by a throwing program the team expects to take a total of four to six weeks.

In other words, Greene’s return figures to land in August, around the same timeline for Nick Lodolo’s anticipated return from the stress reaction in his left leg.
