More than 80 years have passed and Johnny Vander Meer’s brief stretch of utter dominance remains unequaled.

Even the most casual of Cincinnati Reds fans knows that Vander Meer is the only pitcher in major league history to pitch no-hitters in back-to-back starts. The left-hander from New Jersey strung together his fantastic stretch of dominance in 1938 in games against the Boston Bees – not Braves at the time – on June 11 at Crosley Field and against the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field in New York on June 15.
