The second game of a doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim offered multiple examples.
In the 2nd inning, Friedl robbed Shohei Ohtani, the odds-on favorite to win American League MVP honors, of a potential multi-base, multi-RBI opportunity with an inning-ending, sliding catch.
Friedl led off the top of the 4th in a 1-1 game. He fouled the ball off his foot, and it looked painful. He winced and still didn't look comfortable getting back in the box.
