The start of Cincinnati Reds' season will be disrupted for first time since 1994-95 strike

GOODYEAR, Arizona – For the first time since 1995, the Major League Baseball season won’t begin as scheduled.

Essentially all sports across the globe are on hiatus because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said the start of the regular season is postponed indefinitely after the CDC’s latest recommendation to avoid gatherings with 50 or more people for the next eight weeks. The best-case scenario is probably beginning in late-May or early June.

The last time MLB had a disruption at the start of its season was the work stoppage that canceled the 1994 World Series.
