Teammates knew Zack Cozart was an All-Star, now voters are catching on

Everybody inside the Reds’ clubhouse thinks shortstop Zack Cozart deserves to be an All-Star, but now people beyond Cincinnati are noticing.

In the latest All-Star voting tallies released on Monday, Cozart is second among National League shortstops, up a spot from third in the first voting update released a week ago.

Rob Butcher, the Reds’ vice president of media relations, sent Cozart an email Monday with the subject: “Movin’ on up.”

It surprised Cozart, not because he doesn’t have the numbers, but because he passed Cubs’ shortstop Addison Russell to take the second spot behind the Dodgers’ Corey Seager.
