PITTSBURGH -- The day after his best game of the season, Eugenio Suarez was forced to exit Sunday's game vs. the Pirates after getting hit by a pitch that fractured his right thumb.
After Jameson Taillon's 1-1 pitch in the fourth inning, Suarez spent several moments in obvious pain while being looked over by trainer Steve Baumann and manager Bryan Price. Suarez remained in the game and went to first base.
But before the bottom of the fourth inning, Suarez was removed and Cliff Pennington took over at third base.
