DENVER -- The Reds placed catcher Devin Mesoraco on the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday because of a left shoulder strain. It is the same shoulder Mesoraco had surgery on in 2016 to repair a torn labrum.
Reliever Ariel Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to take Mesoraco's place on the roster. Cincinnati will continue to have Tucker Barnhart at catcher, with Stuart Turner backing up.
When the Rockies and Reds play again on Wednesday at Coors Field, each club's Opening Day starter will be pit against the other, as Jon Gray is slated to start for Colorado against Cincinnati's Scott Feldman.
