The San Diego Padres will name former New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds pitching coach Larry Rothschild as their new pitching coach, according to multiple reports.
The 65-year-old Rothschild was dismissed by the Yankees last week after nine seasons as their pitching coach.
Rothschild was a coach for the Cincinnati Reds from 1986 to 1993, starting his coaching career as a roving minor-league pitching instructor. He was the team's bullpen coach in 1990 and 1991 - winning a World Series ring in '90 - and he was Cincinnati's pitching coach in 1992 and 1993.
