The Cincinnati Reds made three roster moves this afternoon. While Aristides Aquino was already on the injured list after having surgery to remove the hamate bone in his left hand, the team moved him to the 60-day injured list on Sunday to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Vladimir Gutierrez. The team also added outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. to the alternate site roster.
For Aristides Aquino it doesn’t change a whole lot. The general diagnosis for return from this injury is 4-8 weeks. Adding him to the 60-day injured list just means it’s going to be at least 8 weeks.
