Reds pitching staff operating in emergency mode

When it comes to his pitching staff, Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price might as well be rummaging through the discount bin at the grocery store. Every item is past its expiration date, and Price has to determine if he can gamble on enough items to cook a full meal.

Friday, he made due with a short start from Lisalverto Bonilla, and had to throw his top three relievers in a blowout loss simply because they were the most rested. Then Price used rookie reliever Austin Brice a day earlier than he really felt was prudent.

Saturday, the Reds had to perform some roster jujitsu just to get a healthy pitcher in the bullpen.
