NEW YORK – Before a single New York Met delivered a pitch at Citi Field in its inaugural season in 2009, Tim Adleman had won a game there. Eight years later, the 29-year-old Cincinnati Reds pitcher is back at the stadium he helped break in.
Back then, Adleman was in his junior year at Georgetown University, still a year away from being drafted. The Mets were about to unveil their brand new stadium in Queens as they moved over from old Shea Stadium. The franchise wanted a dry run, so Georgetown’s Big East game against St. John’s was moved to Citi Field.
