Bring in a left-handed reliever to face Scott Schebler at your own risk. Entering Monday’s game with Cleveland, Schebler was 5 for 12 with all five hits going for extra bases against left-handed relievers — and he hasn’t struck out.
Sure, it’s a tiny sample size, and that was before Monday’s game against Cleveland and lefty Andrew Miller, but it’s still impressive.
It’s not just lefty relievers that Schebler’s been hitting, but all southpaws. Entering Monday’s game, he’s crushed left-handers to the tune of a 1.043 OPS versus a .807 OPS against right-handers.
“You’re going to jinx me,” Schebler joked when asked pregame about his hot start against lefties.
