Reds pitcher Homer Bailey will start Friday for Double-A Pensacola in his return from February elbow surgery.
Bailey has been pitching at the Reds’ complex in Goodyear, Ariz., and his rehab assignment will begin Friday, starting the 20-day clock to be activated off of the disabled list. Both Bailey and left-hander Brandon Finnegan have target return dates of later this month.
Finnegan (shoulder) threw in a camp game in Goodyear on Tuesday and the results were positive. He’ll throw another bullpen session there before making a start at a full-season affiliate.
