The day after lasting just 2 1/3 innings, the Reds designated Asher Wojciechowski for assignment on Sunday morning. The team also optioned right-hander Jake Buchanan to Triple-A Louisville, activated catcher Stuart Turner from his rehab assignment and recalled right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla.
The move creates an opening in the rotation for Friday’s start in Washington. Neither Bonilla nor Homer Bailey, who has a rehab start scheduled for Monday in Louisville, will make that start. For now, it’s undetermined who will, Reds manager Bryan Price said.
“I think we have guys, options in the system to come in and bridge the gap until (Brandon) Finnegan and Homer are here,” Price said.
