Cincinnati Reds left-hander Amir Garrett will be eligible to return from the 10-day disabled list on Saturday. He won’t be activated that quickly, but could return to action and the Reds rotation in the next several days beyond that.
Garrett threw a 30-35 pitches in a bullpen session Thursday, and played long toss at 120 feet Friday. He’s working back from right hip inflammation, and could slot into the rotation as soon as Sunday. The Reds currently have right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla starting in that spot, but would alter things to insert Garrett.
"We're going to define our best rotation, and when Amir is back in that will set all the other pieces in place,” manager Bryan Price said.
