Reds match dubious club mark in loss to Cards

CINCINNATI -- The last time the Reds opened a season with a 2-11 record was 1955, when rock 'n' roll music and McDonald's were just getting started and the polio vaccine was deemed safe and effective. By the end of that season, the club rallied for a 75-79 record.

Now that the 2018 Reds have equaled that rough start following Friday's 5-3 loss to the Cardinals at Great American Ball Park, they will have to hope for a similar surge to get some footing. Cincinnati has dropped six in a row while scoring 16 runs during the skid.
