MILWAUKEE — When catcher Devin Mesoraco returns to the Reds on Friday, he’ll likely be greeted by two other catchers, Tucker Barnhart and Stuart Turner.
With Mesoraco finishing up his 20-day rehab assignment with Double-A Pensacola on Tuesday, the Reds will likely carry three catchers on their roster and cut the bullpen to seven.
The Reds selected Turner in December’s Rule 5 draft from the Twins. In order to keep Turner, they’d have to place him through waivers and hope no other team claims him. Even if that happened, he’d then have to be offered back to the Twins.
