Reds continue to stumble in September and drop the series against the Detroit Tigers

When the Detroit Tigers took out starting pitcher Casey Mize before the top of the fourth inning on Sunday, the Cincinnati Reds got their biggest break of the three-game series.

Mize, the No. 1 pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, had a perfect game through three innings. Mize had a 3.51 ERA, and his replacement, reliever José Ureña, had a 6.00 ERA. And in a scoreless game, the Reds had their ace on the mound in starting pitcher Luis Castillo.

The Reds got four hits against Ureña over 2 u2154 innings, but they couldn’t score. In a 4-1 loss in front of a crowd of 23,083 fans at Great American Ball Park, the Reds lost their second game of the three-game series.
