Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson left Thursday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after he took a foul ball off his right hand.
Reds catchers:Tyler Stephenson and Aramis Garcia are playing a role in Reds' pitching success
In the top of the fourth inning, Diamondbacks right fielder Jordan Luplow hit a foul tip, and Stephenson had his right hand just behind his glove. The foul ball hit Stephenson's bare right hand. After a brief meeting with the trainer, Stephenson was replaced by backup catcher Aramis Garcia.
It's the third time this year that Stephenson has exited in the middle of a game due to injuries, but he was in concussion protocol in the other two cases.
