Bullpen sessions are rarely exciting, but left-hander Brandon Finnegan wore a big smile after throwing 21 pitches off the mound before Tuesday’s game against Cleveland.
The Reds left-hander has been on the disabled list for more than a month with a shoulder injury and finally got back on the mound Tuesday.
“Today was definitely a big step forward for me,” Finnegan said. “It's definitely going to tell me how I actually felt. Playing catch can only tell you so much, so getting off the mound was a huge difference. And I still didn't feel anything (in the shoulder), so I can definitely see (a return) coming.
