Players wearing duplicate numbers in MLB spring training is common

GOODYEAR, Arizona – Cincinnati Reds fans were excused if they thought they were seeing double in the seventh inning of their spring training game Thursday.

Brandon Finnegan, wearing No. 69, was on the mound and Alfredo Rodriguez, also wearing No. 69, was playing shortstop behind him.

The Reds have 55 players in big-league camp, plus 18 minor leaguers who were invited to report early to participate in spring training games. It's common for players to wear the same number during minor-league camp when there are hundreds of players across the several levels of the minor leagues.
