Our Q&A with former Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo before he takes the stage at Bogart's

Having played major league baseball and reaping the celebrity that comes with it affords Bronson Arroyo certain professional advantages over his fellow Cincinnati musicians and singer-songwriters.

For one, he can pick the brain of Eddie Vedder, the lead singer of Pearl Jam and one of Arroyo’s longtime heroes.

Arroyo has been playing guitar and singing rock music for several years and would occasionally gig around town on off days when he was pitching for the Reds. Now retired from the big leagues, he still has a home here and another in Florida.

He exclusively will be singing cover songs when he takes the stage at Bogart’s on Friday, but lately, he has been trying his hand at songwriting.
