It was one of the most frustrating moments of Max Schrock’s baseball career and the Cincinnati Reds were determined to find answers.
Schrock was set to make the Reds’ Opening Day roster, something the 27-year-old hadn’t accomplished, after an impressive spring camp, but he was derailed by a calf injury four days before the season opener in Atlanta. It was the second consecutive season Schrock missed the Opening Day roster because of a leg injury.

“Being so close to being on an (Opening Day) roster for the first time in my career and then having it obviously taken away from me so close was, that was really hard,” said Schrock, who was activated from the 60-day injured list before Friday’s game.
