Luke Weaver silences Reds offense in 7-0 Diamondbacks victory

Eugenio Suarez had a broken-bat single, Joey Votto took a walk, and Alex Blandino wore one of the very, very few poor pitches Luke Weaver threw, and that constituted the entirety of the Cincinnati Reds production at the plate on Sunday against Arizona Diamondbacks starter Luke Weaver.

The Perfecto lasted into the 6th, the no-hitter into the 7th, and despite scattering an occasional baserunner before wrapping this game, the Reds simply could not muster anything akin to the offense that sprinted out of the gate in this 2021 season.

On to San Francisco they go.

Key Plays

  • Back to back doubles from Eduardo Escobar and Pavin Smith got Arizona on the board first in this one, the two two-baggers coming off De León in the Bottom of the 2nd with the latter enough to plate the former.
