DENVER – A few minutes before a group sang the national anthem Saturday, the Cincinnati Reds learned their game against the Colorado Rockies would be delayed because of lightning near Coors Field.

About 30 minutes after the delay was announced, the Coors Field grounds crew placed a tarp over the infield in preparation for a storm that contained hail. Once the storm arrived, with lightning flashing behind the stadium, most fans retreated to the concourse.
