He's 36 and out of baseball - for now, at least - but former Cincinnati Reds outfielder Josh Hamilton's $24 million salary and $100,000 in endorsements rank him No. 66 on Forbes' 2017 ranking of the 100 highest-paid athletes in the world.
The Texas Rangers released Hamilton from his minor-league contract in April, perhaps signaling the end of his baseball career. The Angels are paying the Rangers $22 million, covering most of the $24 million Hamilton is due in the final year of his MLB contract.
Injuries have limited Hamilton to just 139 games since the end of the 2013 season.
