TORONTO — Growing up, Joey Votto wanted to be a Blue Jay. As the Reds first baseman returned to play here with the Reds for the first time since 2009, he said he’s moved on from that kid’s dream.
“I will admit when I was 16, 17 years old, the thought of playing for the Jays was at the top,” Votto said before Monday’s game at the Rogers Centre. “There's something about joining a club and being embraced by a club and then building a relationship and commitment to a team. I'm not 16 or 17 anymore, I'm excited about the team I'm playing for.
