'I've gone through this before': Mechanical adjustment could be key for Vladimir Gutierrez

DENVER – There are glimpses when Vladimir Gutierrez sees the finished product, where all his mechanical adjustments on the mound come together.

The problem is those glimpses are coming in bullpen sessions, but they haven’t transferred into games. It’s been a rough start to the season for Gutierrez with an 0-4 record and a 7.41 ERA through four outings.

Gutierrez, who will start Wednesday in Milwaukee, has spent a lot of time working with pitching coach Derek Johnson on keeping his arm in sync with his delivery. It’s a difficult thing to adjust mid-season.
