'He's a bulldog out there': Reds rookie Tony Santillan finds a home in the bullpen

CHICAGO – Tony Santillan doesn’t show much emotion when he pitches, but he insists he was fired up about the way he pitched Monday.

It was the first time he pitched in back-to-back games as a reliever and he was tremendous. Entering with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth inning, he induced an inning-ending double play against Jason Heyward. Then he struck out three of the four batters he faced in the following inning, making hitters look silly as they flailed at his fastball and slider.

“For me, it’s just coming out with my best stuff right out of the gate,” Santillan said.
