Gary Waits, first MLB full-time bullpen catcher for Cincinnati Reds, dies at 81

Gary Waits, who became Major League Baseball's first full-time bullpen catcher for the Cincinnati Reds in 1970 and remained with the Big Red Machine through 1978, died Sunday at the age of 81, according to an obituary from Megie Funeral Home in Mount Orab.

The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum tweeted the following tribute to the Mount Orab native:

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Megie Funeral Home located at 104 Spice St., Mt. Orab, OH 45154. Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 11:00 am at Megie Funeral Home.
