Farm Report: Now at Triple-A, Mahle focusing on present

The Enquirer/C. Trent Rosecrans

LOUISVILLE – For 11 hours on Wednesday, Tyler Mahle made a rain-soaked drive from Pensacola to Louisville to take the next step of his baseball career. As soon as he arrived, the right-hander began hunting for an apartment.

He'll be living with fellow Cincinnati Reds prospect Jimmy Herget, and the pairing makes sense. Both were recently promoted to the Triple-A Louisville Bats from Double-A, and neither is on the 40-man roster. That makes their search more difficult.

Players on the 40-man are union members, and make a minimum salary of $41,400 when in the minors.
