'Everyone should be offended by it': Cincinnati Reds players react to Thom Brennaman's on-air slur

Manager David Bell and Cincinnati Reds players wanted to make it clear when they spoke to reporters Thursday afternoon that Thom Brennaman’s homophobic slur during Wednesday’s broadcast had no place in their organization.

“I don’t think anybody really agrees with what he said,” pitcher Anthony DeSclafani said. “There’s really no place for stuff like that anywhere. I’m sure the Reds and the organization will have to do what they have to do, but it’s not good, man. We don’t need that. I don’t know. It might be a better thing that he’s gone, to be honest.”

The Reds suspended Brennaman, their TV play-by-play announcer, for using the slur during the on-air broadcast in the first game of the Reds-Kansas City Royals doubleheader.
