The Enquirer/C. Trent Rosecrans
It’s easy to write this column less than 12 hours after a bad game in a season of them for the Cincinnati Reds. Their ignominious 18-3 bashing Saturday by the Washington Nationals incorporated everything that’s wrong with this team and franchise.
Homer Bailey was terrible. If he’s the cavalry, he should change his name to Custer. A year after they had a historically terrible bullpen, the Reds have a historically terrible rotation.
Because Bailey was terrible, his six-year, $105 million contract again became a conversation. To some, his contract is terrible, even if it fell within acceptable boundaries for a pitcher of his achievements when it was done.
