Major League Baseball announced that Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell and outfielder Jesse Winker were both suspended for one game for their involvement in the Reds and Cubs bench clearing yelling match. Cubs coach Mike Borzello also was suspending for one game. Joey Votto, the Reds first baseman, was fined for his involvement. The fine was not disclosed.
David Bell will serve his suspension tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals according to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. There has been no word as to whether or not Jesse Winker will appeal his suspension or not. The Cardinals are sending a left-handed starter to the mound tomorrow.
