A half-inning after he dropped an easy fly ball in right, Patrick Kivlehan got a little pep talk. It came from San Francisco Giants shortstop Eduardo Nunez, right after Kivlehan slid into second on a sacrifice bunt.
“Hey don’t worry about it,” Nunez said. “That happens to everybody.”
That was in the second, when the game against the Cincinnati Reds was still low-scoring and tied. After the Reds broke out for a 14-2 win Saturday at Great American Ball Park – in part thanks to Kivlehan’s four hits, including a home run – the Giants could probably use some uplifting words of their own.
