Cincinnati Reds sign 1st-round draft pick Austin Hendrick with $4 million bonus

The Cincinnati Reds added outfielder Austin Hendrick, the No. 12 pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, to the organization on Friday when he signed for a reported $4 million bonus, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis.

General manager Nick Krall described Hendrick as a "prototypical right fielder." The 6-foot, 195-pound lefty hitter was known as the high schooler with the most power in the draft class. The slot value for the pick was $4.37 million.

“We’ve seen him a bunch the last two years," Reds scouting director Brad Meador said. "He’s a big, strong, physical kid.
