Cincinnati Reds seek an oasis in Arizona versus fading Diamondbacks

There’s no way around it Reds Country, the second half has been filled with one missed opportunity after another. Following the All-Star break, the Cincinnati Reds (68-79) have suffered breakdowns in all phases, but the failure of the bullpen has been a source of frustration.

Entering play Thursday, Reds relievers have posted a 5.20 ERA and compiled a disastrous 1.41 WHIP post All-Star break. After sporting a respectable 4.05 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through the first 87 games, the collapse of the bullpen over the past 60 games has doomed the Reds.

Unfortunately, there’s plenty of blame to go around.
