At the end of spring training the Cincinnati Reds claimed Scooter Gennett off of waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. For a major league player those teams both looked like career purgatory. Instead, the Brewers have been leading the National League Central for much of the first half and the Reds have been a solid landing space for Gennett.
The best part about Gennett’s resurgence is that it isn’t really a resurgence. Gennett is just being the same solid player that he has been every year of his career, save 2015. 2015 was difficult, but the rest of his career has been consistent.
